The Oil Search Foundation continues to contribute significantly to the development of Papua New Guinea and its human resources – the latest through the launch of a new scholarship programme.
Oil Search Foundation (OSF) chairman, Peter Botten launched the Scholarship Program, which aims to contribute to the development of effective and ethical Papua New Guinean (PNG) leaders this week.

Mr Botten, said that the program fits within the broader vision of the Foundation which is to contribute to the development of the next generation of Papua New Guinean leaders and improve social and economic outcomes for individuals and communities.

“The Foundation will continue to work in partnership with the PNG Government to support the development of Papua New Guineans so that they can in turn contribute effectively to the development of their country,” said Mr Botten.

As with other scholarship programs OSF is providing recipients with financial support to complete their tertiary education from recognised PNG institutions. What is unique about this program is that it offers additional opportunities to develop leadership skills through structured training and mentoring and work placements.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to study and be mentored under the OSF scholarship program. I look forward to graduating and making a difference in PNG,” said Jonathan Mesa, a scholarship recipient.

Fifteen scholarships have been awarded in 2018 to students studying Bachelors of Nursing at the Lutheran School of Nursing (LSoN), Business Management at the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) and a Bachelors of Medicine/ Surgery at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG).

Value and skills-based leadership training is provided to all recipients in partnership with The Voice Incorporated.

The launch event provided scholarship recipients an opportunity to meet OSF partners and stakeholders and for proud parents and family members to share in the experience.
